Road books, 1820-1923.

Each probate judge was required to maintain a road book that provided information regarding all public roads within the county (see Ala. Code, 5814 [1907]). This series included the name and grade of roads, the names of apportioners, and overseers of each section of road. This record was created on an annual basis. It began in ca. 1820 and continued until the Code of 1923 when the law is no longer included.
